The keynote speaker of the Convention Mr. Photis Photiou, Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots conveyed to the delegates the warm greetings and gratitude of President Anastasiades for their work in the US to preserve and promote the culture and history of Cyprus.
The Presidential Commissioner briefed the delegates on the latest developments in the Cyprus political issue. He spoke about the issues of the expatriates announcing that his year the summer hospitality program for children will be implemented in Cyprus for 10 days. This will be a pilot project to be launched by the children of expatriates in the United States and will be extended to other countries. He also referred to the creation of a Registry for Cypriots residing abroad, which will be piloted by FCAO for the Greek-Cypriots residing in the United States.
Dignitaries from the governments of Greece and Cyprus also addressed the National Convention.
General Elections for the 2018-2020 term took place during the FCAO National Convention and Kyriacos Papastylianou was re-elected President. The names of the new Executive Committee and Board are as follows:
