Farewell Reception in honor of H.E. Ambassador Vasilios Philippou

A moving farewell event was held in honor of the outgoing Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in New York, Ambassador Vasilios Philippou, organized jointly by the Federation of Cypriot Organizations,  the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and PSEKA at Dionysos Restaurant in Astoria.

The event was attended by many dignitaries including the Consul General of Greece in New York Dr. Konstantinos Koutras, Consul of Greece Mrs. Lana Zochiou, the President of PSEKA Mr. Philip Christopher, the President of the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations Mr. Kyriakos Papastylianou, the President of the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Mr. Nicolas Nicolaou, New York City Council Member Costa Constantinides, and the President of the Hellenic Medical Society of New York Dr. George Liakeas.

During his remarks, the President of FCAO Kyriakos Papastylianou thanked Ambassador Philippou for his support and said that “Vasilis Philippou never saw the community as a job” and “never did anything for his personal benefit.”

On behalf of the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber, Nicolas Nicolaou praised the excellent co-operation he had with Ambassador Philippou whom he did not hesitate to call “Mr. Network,” for the fact that he always connected the Chamber with important companies and entrepreneurs.

Consul General of Greece Konstantinos Koutras also spoke warmly about Vasilios and Anthea Philippou noting that they are “two rare people, you were lucky to have them here.”

As of June 1st, 2018 Amb. Vasilios Philippou assumes his new post as Ambassador of Cyprus to Ottawa, Canada, committed to maintaining contact with his friends and former associates in the United States.
